A Segway is the most innovative and exciting inventions of our time. Taking this hi-tech transporter through Nature provides a unique and memorable team-bonding experience for groups. Most sessions are one hour in length, and can be either lengthened or shortened to accommodate your group.
After mastering how to ride a Segway, your team will go “off road” to explore Fort George Island — one of the most ecological and historic places along the East Coast. The team will journey through lush, sub-tropical vegetation, around ancient dunes, out to secluded shores.
Equipped with wireless headsets, participants will hear about the Island’s lost tribes, its natural resources, and coastal critters. (The headsets are also useful for “just-in-time” riding tips!)
Meeting Place: Excursions begin and end at the historic, waterside Ribault Clubhouse – a former wintertime retreat for political and industrial leaders such as, the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Carnegies, DuPonts, and Winston Churchill.
Size of Group: Up to 10 participants per excursion. If your team size is larger than 10, back-to-back sessions can be easily arranged. For instance, for a typical half-day team event, a group of 20 can be divided in two. There is a general orientation with the entire group of 20, then half the group boards the Segways, while the other half waits for their return.
In-between waiting time for larger groups can be nicely filled with either a stop at the Island’s old-time plantation site, Kingsley Plantation or an exploration of the gracious grounds of the Ribault Club or the inside lobby area. (Cell phone service is excellent at this facility.)
Team-bonding skills reinforced in these excursions include: openness to learning, listening skills, embracing technological advances, understanding individual behavior and its impact on productivity, receptivity to coaching and making necessary adjustments, patience and attentiveness to fellow team members. And, having a fun, team experience!
Excursion Leaders: Since 2005, Maren and Greg Arnett have owned and operated EcoMotion Tours. EcoMotion Tours is specially permitted by the Florida Park Service and the National Park Service to conduct eco-historic excursions on Fort George Island. Maren and Greg enjoy training local and distant guests to ride a Segway, then leading them through the Island’s fascinating eco-system. Their backgrounds include corporate training, leadership development, and engineering.
“…An incredible outdoors excursion on the coolest mode of transport around!" — Team Participant, Mercedes-Benz
“…What a wonderful event for our executive retreat – it gave us a chance to see what each is capable of as we experienced climbing aboard a Segway for the very first time. A different dimension to the folks I only see pushing around a pencil at work...”— Vice President, Comcast Cable
“…Awesome time! What a fun thing to include in our regional meeting.
Our entire team enjoyed the experience…” — General Manager, West Marine
